Sulb (Foulath) Jetty Project, Bahrain

Project Overview:

Located in the vibrant Hidd Industrial Area of Bahrain, the Sulb (Foulath) Jetty serves as a crucial export terminal for Sulb’s steel products, significantly enhancing the company’s export capabilities. The project encompassed the construction of a new 230-meter-long jetty, designed to accommodate the rigorous demands of marine activity and support large-scale shipping operations.

Project Details:

Jetty Specifications: The jetty can host vessels up to 180m in length overall (LOA) and with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of up to 40,000. The structure comprises reinforced concrete and combi steel piles, engineered to withstand the harsh marine conditions prevalent in the Middle East.

Infrastructure: The construction scope included a robust port apron, the installation of a sophisticated nitrogen suppression system, and the integration of ram revolvers for efficient loading of DRI pellets.

Engineering and Design: Our expert, John Barnes, while affiliated with Ismail Khonji Associates, was instrumental in the conceptualization and engineering design phases of the project. His responsibilities extended from material handling and logistics solutions to the preparation of contract documentation, tender evaluation, and support in the Tender Award process.

Post-Construction Phase:

John Barnes’ role continued into the project management and site supervision phases, ensuring meticulous oversight and alignment with project specifications and standards.
